CPAWS WORK

Efforts to protect wilderness in Saskatchewan are embroiled in a race against time. Saskatchewan's wild landscapes are changing at unprecedented rates as people access, explore and extract the riches from the land. The "human footprint" is threatening both ecological health and our own human health.

CPAWS and others are faced with the challenge to protect wilderness in Saskatchewan --- not all of it --- but enough so that the natural integrity and biological diversity of lands are maintained. Often our conservation efforts extend beyond the boundaries of protected areas because what happens outside of protected areas is important to the integrity of the protected areas themselves and to the ecological health of the landscape as a whole.

Saskatchewan still boasts pristine spaces. For now we still have places with few or no access roads and little or no human developments --- places where nature carries on as it has for thousands of years.

CPAWS works on conservation projects with many different people in communities, governments, industries and other non-profit organizations to establish broadly supported land use solutions.
